Information regarding how Smarter Sorting classifies your products and options for receiving results.

Sample Hazard File, Sample Haz File - Sorty Items

Smarter Sorting can provide a file containing regulated UPCs along with retailer-designated hazardous waste disposal bins in each state. This file will:

1. Apply rules to Portal-registered products to generate state-specific haz binning categorization for Retailers. 

2. This file is a daily file containing all of the UPCs registered in the Portal and shared with the Retailer along with the correct hazardous waste disposal bin for each state.  

3. The rules to determine the correct hazardous waste bin will be provided by the Retailer and implemented in Smarter Sorting’s binning system. These are in the “rules” tab of the Sample Haz File - Sorty Items

   1. In the case of multi-component products, if at least two of the child products have different federally regulated bins, the product should go in the error file. If the child products have different bins, but only one kind of federally regulated bin, then the value in the hazfile should be the federally regulated bin.
