Troubleshooting Touch Screen on BOTS

  • First steps are to verify the technician is not wearing gloves and ask them to clean the screen. Also, try rebooting the device.

  • Login to BOTS through anydesk and verify that you can control the device remotely. If you can operate the device through anydesk, that means the touch screen is not responding and the issue is hardware related. The most common cause of touch screen malfunction is temperature (extreme cold, heat and/or humidity). Drivers can try powering down to cool the device and a fan if one is available.

If you are not able to control the device remotely, the issue might be software related and you should post in the Support channel for assistance.

  • Once we have verified the issue is hardware related and cooling down the device did not resolve, the next step would be replacement of the device. The driver should contact their manager to arrange swapping out with a spare or we can overnight a new device if they are not near a hub. Post request in #replacement-equipment-requests Slack

  • A temporary solution to get the driver back to work faster is suggesting the use of a mouse. The driver will need to purchase a corded mouse locally and a Dev will need to enable the mouse cursor.
